The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington has an immediate opening for a dynamic and experienced Director of Out-of-School Time Programs to oversee our school-based programs in partnership with KIPP DC Public Charter Schools.

About the Role

The Director of Out-of-School Time Programs will provide strategic and operational leadership for before and after school programs across six KIPP DC public charter schools. This role is responsible for ensuring that each program delivers engaging, high-quality, safe and developmentally appropriate experiences for PreK-8 students.

You will supervise a team of site directors and frontline staff, build strong relationships with school partners and families, and ensure that the programs meet licensing, safety, and quality standards.

Qualifications

What You Bring: 

  • 5+ years leadership experience in OST, youth development, or education
  • Bachelor's degree in education, child development or related field
  • Experience managing staff & multi-site programs
  • Strong relationship-building & communication skills
  • Knowledge of DC licensing, child safety standards & youth development best practices
  • Experience working with subsidy programs and licensing agencies is a plus.
Essential Functions

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and manage OST programs serving over 500 students across six KIPP DC schools.
  • Supervise and support a team of site directors and program staff, promoting a positive work environment.
  • Partner with KIPP DC school leaders and families to ensure program alignment with school and community needs.
  • Ensure compliance with local licensing regulations and YMCA policies related to youth programs.
  • Oversee program budgets, enrollment, and daily operations to ensure efficiency and high-quality service.
  • Develop and implement strategies for staff development, program improvement, and family engagement.
  • Promote youth development best practices, including positive behavior supports, social-emotional learning, and trauma-informed care.
